I want to thank all that were involved in the care of my father-in-law last week. The care and compassion exhibited was a tremendous comfort to us. I would like to especially thank Lee (rehab), Elnora (EVS), Patrick (FNS) and Nancy(RN) and the rest of the nursing team for the great care he received. I know there were more involved and just could not remeber all of you. He has had his surgery and will now be moving to rehab at Coliseum. We look forward to his rapid recovery and getting his quick wit back. Again, thanks for his great care.
As we come to the end of July our admissions and surgeries are slightly under last year. Most of this is attributed to the heavy vacation schedules of our physicians. I expect volumes will bounce back once school is back in session. Our emergency room volumes continue to grow at double digit pace. Even with that growth we are the most effiecient ED in Macon. Why would you wait at “The Med” for 2 hours?? We are closer, faster and nicer!!!!!Please thank our physicians for bringing their patients to our hospital as they are key to our continued growth.
I had the opportunity to visit the Macon Museum of Arts and Sciences this week. Susan Welsh, the Executive Director, provided a tour and we discussed how we might work together to draw more attention to our organizations in North Macon. We are also considering her as a Board of Trustees member to represent CNH.
We also met with Ruth Knox from Weslyan College to discuss their new nursing program. Pat will be meeting with the Dean of the Nursing program so that can be a clinical rotation site for those students. This will provide exposure to great patient care for them and hopefully provide a source of recruitment for us when they graduate. We also discussed some collaboration of continuing education for our existing nursing staff as well. Stay tuned as this realtionship develops.
We have kicked off our American Heart Association Heart Walk campaign across both campuses. I hope that all of you will join in supporting this fundraising in some way and walk with us on September 25th! We have pediometers for all involved in this healthy initiative! Let’s be #1 in Macon for heart health!
Don’t forget the upcoming family movie on the lawn, August 7th, at sunset (approx 8:30pm). This is a great way for the North Macon community to get aquainted for our hospital!
Have a great weekend and thanks for sharing your time and talent at Northside Hospital!
