We continue to see fabulous growth in all aspects of the hospital. So far in August our ED visits are up 30%, OR volume is up 44% and admits projected to be up about 3%. Thanks to all of you who work to make this the hospital physicians and patients choose for their care. Every encounter by every staff member makes an impact on the patient experience. Let’s be sure all of our interactions are positive and patient focused. Look for ways to say yes to our patients and families.
While volumes are up we continue to lead in overall inpatient patient experience ending the 2nd quarter at 77% and Emergency Department loyalty in the 93% percentile (!). We have 2 areas we have some room for improvement and they are outpatient test and treatment at 59% and outpatient surgery at 59%. Both of these areas biggest areas needing improvement are wait time and communication about results and communication with family. I know we can change these perceptions as we have done in other areas of our care continuum. Let’s continue to look through the eyes of our patients and their families to make continuous improvement.
In honor of your hard work and these results we will be having a complimentary employee tailgate party on August the 28th during our normal lunch hour. We will make arrangements for the night shift as well. We plan to theme it around Mercer Universities football kickoff (The Bears) and yes, your beloved Georgia Bulldogs! You may wear appropriate themed dress on that day at CNH in lieu of our regular dress code. Jackie will provide the menu soon so watch for more information next week. Again, thanks for all of your hard work!
Our American Heart Walk fundraising is picking up steam. So far our teams have raised almost $10,000! We have 41 days left before the Heart Walk on September 25th and need everyone’s help to make our $43,000 goal. Here are a few of the planned events: Zumba Class on 8/19 in the CMC classroom, Cake Auction on 8/28 in the CNH Lobby, Yard Sale at CNH on 9/6 just to name a few. Watch for all the team’s fundraisers at your hospital. Thanks for your ongoing support and enthusiasm.
Human Resources completed their first week being on site at CNH and had many visitors with questions. As a reminder they are at CNH on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30am until 12 in Administration. Please take advantage of this valuable resource when they are here. As always you can call them or use the office at CMC as well M-F.
At our last Board of Trustees meeting two new Board members were appointed to represent CNH. They are Dr. Wayne Kelly of OrthoGa and Susan Welsh, Executive Director of the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon. As Board members their primary responsibilities is to oversee the quality of care at our facilities and provide input for our strategies and initiatives to better serve our community. These are voluntary positions and we thank them both for taking such an interest in our hospitals.
Don’t forget about our “Feel it In Your Bones” Ortho/Spine Fair and Seminar from 8am-12 on our campus Saturday. I am looking for another great turnout by the community to learn more about the prevention and treatment of orthopedic and spine injuries and disease. Bring your neighbors and families so they can learn about the great services we provide here at CNH! Thanks to all the volunteers who make this happen! See you Saturday!
