Hospital Authority of Monroe County Announces Clinical Partnership

Forsyth, GEORGIA (December 3, 2014) – The Hospital Authority of Monroe County, dba Monroe County Hospital, announced today a newly formed clinical affiliation with Coliseum Health System of Macon, Georgia (CHS).  Coliseum Health System includes Coliseum Medical Centers and Coliseum Northside Hospital located in Macon, GA. Monroe County Hospital (MCH) is a non-profit, independent, community-based hospital located in Forsyth, GA.

“The affiliation between our two organizations will facilitate the on-going delivery of healthcare services in a local setting to Monroe County and surrounding residents”, said Tony Ussery, Chairman of the Hospital Authority.  “Many independent, rural hospitals such as MCH find affiliation with a larger healthcare system to be the business model necessary to address the challenges and rapid changes going on within the hospital industry.  CHS has demonstrated their interest and commitment to keeping healthcare local for Monroe County residents”.

MCH’s CEO, Kay Floyd, stated that the affiliation represents a real opportunity to enhance the access to primary and specialty care services.  “By working together as partners, both hospitals can benefit from each other’s strengths and enhance the medical services currently available at MCH.  There is a strong sense of community that is prevalent here in Forsyth/Monroe County.  And as many of our rural hospital counterparts are struggling to keep their doors open, we must be proactive in keeping our hospital viable and available to our service area.”

According to Coliseum Medical Centers’ CEO, Mr. Lance Jones, “Our mission is to improve human life by delivering high quality, cost effective healthcare in the communities we serve.  We look forward to working with Monroe County Hospital and their Hospital Authority to accomplish our similar missions.  Our first steps will be to address needs that are currently not being met in the local setting.”

“Coliseum Health System and Monroe County Hospital share a strong commitment to expanding health care in Monroe County,” said Coliseum Northside Hospital’s CEO, Steve Daugherty.
