Steve’s Weekly Wrap-Up (October 23, 2015)

leapfroggroupYesterday we received notice that we have been awarded an “A” by the Leapfrog Group. Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Score® assigns A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,500 U.S. hospitals based on their ability to prevent errors, accidents, injuries and infections. The Hospital Safety Score is calculated by top patient safety experts and is peer-reviewed. This is an outstanding achievement for our hospital. To score an A truly takes a team of committed professionals focused on our patients. You should all be proud of the care you provide and this public recognition of that care.

This week we conclude our fundraising for the AHA Heart walk with a celebration and walk for heart-walkyour efforts. The walk is at Middle Georgia State University this Saturday at 8:00am. We are currently just $500 out of first place for most funds raised behind State Bank and Navicent is closing on us quickly in third place. It’s not too late to make some asks to help push us back to number one! It has been my pleasure to serve as the 2015 Heart Walk Chair and I dedicate this one as all those in the past in memory of my Dad who we lost to heart disease 6 years ago. My Dad is why I walk. Thanks for your tremendous support and effort to make this the best heart walk ever. I look forward to seeing you all there tomorrow. WE ARE CHS!!!

EMT interiorThis week I spent some time observing a total hip case performed by Dr. Pope and see our OR team in action. I heard some good feedback about the team and specifically Ann Buckholts, one of our outstanding scrub techs. I also did a ride-along with Middle Georgia Ambulance and received equally positive feedback from the EMT’s about the outstanding service we provide and how we continue to improve. While this takes me away from the hospital these relationships are paramount in our continued growth and success. Thanks for the great care you provide.

Recognition:

  • B. called today to tell me she was a patient several days last week and she “could not have received better care”.  She stated every single person that came to see her on that floor “from the housekeepers to the nurses to the nurse aides – they were absolutely amazing!”  She could not say enough good things about her experience at Coliseum Northside and I told her how much we appreciated her feedback and assured her that I would pass along the information. – Amy Stokes

  • I have missed mentioning several special weeks and I apologize. Last week was National Pharmacy week and the week before National Emergency Nurses week. Thanks for all you to as part of our care team to provide the highest level of care and service to our patients.

  • Next week is National Respiratory Care Week. Please thank our respiratory team for their important role in the care of our patients.

  • ER had a STEMI yesterday with a 43 minute door to transfer time! Excellent care by Kim Sanders, Jay Glisson, Dr. Griffin and Jennifer Woods PA. – Michael

  • My ER visit at the Coliseum Northside Hospital gave me excellent care on 8/16/2015. I cannot remember my room number at this time but everyone (Crystal Johstono, Doug Wheeless and Kim Sanders )was so kind and compassionate towards me. – Patient
