Please join me in congratulating our April Employee of the Month, Austin Guinn of Physical Therapy! Austin has been recognized for his compassionate care and his great teamwork that he displays every day. If you see the EOM banner on the third floor, it is in honor of Austin!
May is an exciting month at Coliseum Northside with a lot of activities going on! I know it is also a very busy month for many people personally with the school year coming to an end – so buckle up, it’s going to be an exciting ride!
We kick it all off with Hospital Week activities next week. The calendar is full of fun activities to celebrate the importance of the work you do every day and to enjoy being together.
We begin with the Hospital Week Breakfast at 6:30 on Monday morning, May 7th in the cafeteria. How appropriate it is that we Rise and Shine to start Hospital Week since that is the phrase that our own Ronda Sweet coined to describe our efforts to take our Patient Experience performance to the next level. RISE (to the top of the rankings) and SHINE (in the minds of our patients)! And so far in the second quarter we are doing just that, with a great start to our Patient Experience scores.
On Tuesday, May 8th we will host a Food Truck Fest for lunch and dinner in our parking lot. Get there early to get in line before Sheldon!
Dust off your best family recipes for the Bake Off on Wednesday, May 9th. I am really looking forward to this since I will be one of the judges for this contest (and I will accept bribes).
On Thursday, May 10th, we will top off all those baked goods from Wednesday with an Ice Cream Social for both day and night shifts. Save a little room for dessert!
And then the week caps off on Friday with the Safari Hat Contest at noon and at night with a movie on the lawn and popcorn and candy for the night shift. Please plan to come and have a great time!
Next week also happens to be National Nurses Week, which is timed to end on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. The national theme for the week is Inspire, Innovate, Influence. These three words encapsulate the incredibly important work done by our nurses every day. Thank you for what you do for our patients and for furthering our mission “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.”
Next week is also the kick-off of our annual Employee Engagement Survey. It is so important for us to get your feedback and to work to make Coliseum Northside the employer of choice for our market. Those completing the survey will be eligible for some valuable prizes. The survey can be accessed at www.HCASurveys.com starting Monday morning (5/7). Once you’ve completed your survey, don’t forget to PRINT THE CONFIRMATION PAGE, sign it, and turn in to the submission box in Bits & Bytes Cafe to participate in our weekly drawings.
I’m looking forward to a great month of May! Thank you for what you do every day!
