Steve’s Weekly Wrap-Up (June 7, 2018)

concert on the lawnTONIGHT night at 7pm,  I hope that you will join me (and an expected crowd of 1000+music lovers) on the lawn at Coliseum Northside Hospital where you will be entertained by favorite local band, The Grapevine Band! If you are new to Macon it’s a great time to meet new people or share some time with co-workers away from the workplace. Bring your family, your own chairs and a cooler and enjoy music from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. The weather is perfect and Robin Parker has promised NO RAIN!

There is a critical shortage of nurses nation-wide and we are feeling it middle Georgia in our hospitals. In recognition that we need to move more quickly and open every available channel to fill our positions, beginning June 1, our South Atlantic Division Recruitment team kicked-off a drive to hire 500 nurses in 90 days. That is a big hairy audacious goal but it is critical to filling our needs to care for patients. The graphic below shows the numbers we are hoping to fill at CHS on the drive for 500. As a reminder we are still offering referral bonuses for staff members who help us find the “right” nurses to join our team. We will update you on this hiring initiative as we build our team of great caregivers.

giphyThanks to all that have sent patient stories for my 365 Patient Stories – connecting us to our purpose – Series that I am sharing via email. These are those everyday occurrences that often go untold and unnoticed that should be shared widely. These are what connect us back to our mission and give our work purpose. Please keep sharing these with me so I can share with everyone else the great things happening here at CMC.

I am traveling this weekend to watch my son Sean compete in the pro division of  Ironman Eagleman 70.3 near Baltimore this weekend. We are lucky that our entire family (Anna, Corey and grandson Rylie from NYC) will be able to spend a few days together to cheer Sean on as he represents a couple of new sponsors that now support him. Thanks to everyone who has asked about his recovery from is accident last fall. He is completely healthy and ready to compete with the best in his sport. If you are interested in following along this Sunday he can be tracked on the Ironman website using the athlete tracker for this race.

Have a great weekend!
