Steve and RylieI want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and hope that you have some time to meet with family and friends. I am blessed this year that both of my children (Sean and Anna with husband Corey) will be home, along with my grandson Rylie! Not only am I thankful for my family, but also my work family. I am thankful I have the opportunity to lead people dedicated to our Mission: The Care and Improvement of Human Life.

Michael with A

I am thankful for the hard work we have put in as a team to earn Coliseum’s “A” grade from the Leapfrog Group. I am thankful for “Team Lime Green” who took one of our most vulnerable patients into their hearts to make him feel loved and part of our family. I am thankful for the physicians that choose our hospital to practice medicine and trust us to provide the highest quality and safest care for their patients. I am thankful for the community that supports us by choosing our hospital to receive their care. I am thankful for organizations like the United Way, Daybreak Center, Salvation Army, Macon Volunteer Clinic and Rescue Mission that help us meet the ongoing healthcare and social needs of those less fortunate in our community.

Most of all, I am thankful for the opportunity to come to work every day and know that the work we do here at Coliseum Medical Centers makes a difference in so many lives. Giving is a part of the culture here at Coliseum and we should leave each day with a feeling of thanks that we have that opportunity to make such an impact on our community.

We will be delaying our traditional hospital-wide holiday meal until early 2019 due to ongoing construction in the CMC Cafeteria. For those of you working on Thanksgiving and Christmas, we will provide a delicious holiday meal! Once renovations are complete, we will have a grand re-opening of the cafeteria and celebration meal for the entire hospital. The renderings for what our new cafeteria will look like are posted in the entryway for you to view. I am excited about this refresh that has been long overdue.

Thanks to everyone who has responded to our United Way Of Central Georgia giving campaign. We have a goal of raising $100,000 dollars that will go to support 34 United Way Partner Agencies across the 11 counties area of central Georgia. There is no better way to impact your community and extend the mission of our hospital beyond our walls. Thanks to those who have already given so generously and I hope if you haven’t you may consider a payroll deduction before we end our campaign this month. If you pledge $250 or more ($9.62 per pay period over 26 pay periods), HCA will match that amount. For simple, step-by-step directions to donate, go HERE. You can make a payroll deduction at www.HCA.yourcause.com and be sure to check the match if your donation meets the minimum amount of $250. Currently we have raised almost $90,000 towards our goal. Thanks for your generosity!

Thanks to everyone who is also contributing to our “meals for veterans” effort sponsored by our Employee Advisory Group. The goal this year is to collect 1000 meals to be distributed to feed our veterans. You can drop those Dinty Moore meals off in the front entry of Human Resources.
