In conjunction with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, Coliseum Medical Centers is once again bringing the Undy RunWalk to Macon. The race is being held at Mathews Athletic Center at the back of the Wesleyan College campus on 3/9/2019; race packet pick-up will begin at 7:30 am, opening remarks will begin at 8:40 am and the race will begin at 9:00 am.
This is a timed 5K run/walk and an untimed 1 mile Fun Run. This is a fun, family-friendly event where runners wear boxers over their running gear to help raise awareness of colon cancer and to get the word out about the need for screening. The money raised is used to help fund colon cancer research, to provide educational resources for patients and to support colon cancer patients undergoing treatment in the central Georgia area.
We encourage anyone interested in running or who has a family member, friend or patient with colon cancer to come out and support this event. You can join a team or form one of your own, help with fundraising efforts, solicit donations and sponsorships or work as a volunteer at the event. REGISTER ONLINE! The Coliseum Cancer Institute’s team is Coliseum Cares; please feel free to join our team!
As part of our fundraising efforts, we are bringing back “Dress in Blue” jeans days for every Friday in the month of March, which is colon cancer awareness month.
- Discuss approved blue jean dress code with your supervisor.
- Purchase an “Ask me why I’m Blue” sticker for each Friday for $5 or you can purchase 5 stickers for $20. The stickers will be on sale in the Cancer Center in Bulding C and at Vera’s desk in the front lobby. Stickers will be available for purchase starting 2/20/19 and you can start wearing your jeans 3/1/2019.
- Wear sticker on your shirt. Hopefully, patients, family members and other visitors will ask about your sticker/blue jeans and YOU will have a great opportunity to talk with them about colon cancer and screening.
