This week, our Hope Fund reached $50 million in assistance to help our colleagues!
This week, the Hope Fund exceeded $50 million in assistance provided since inception of the fund. We wanted to share this milestone in Hope Fund history with all of our colleagues across the company who have made this moment possible.
The HCA Hope Fund began in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina as a way for us to join together to care like family and assist each other financially in times of crisis. Natural disasters like hurricanes remind us that life can change in an instant. However, every day our colleagues across the company reach out for help because they are facing disasters of all types—illness, injury, domestic violence, the death of a loved one or any one of a number of unavoidable hardships. Thanks to thousands of employee donors, our colleagues get the help they need at some of the most difficult times in their lives.
We invite you to visit our , and read stories like that of Ashley Thevenot, an ER nurse at Tulane Medical Center, Sharon Gates, a cardiovascular research nurse coordinator at TriStar Centennial Medical Center, and Nessa Lomax, a nurse and surgical services manager at Bayshore Medical Center. These stories convey the impact and generosity of more than 30,000 employee donors.
Hope Fund President Joe Flynn says, “To me, the Hope Fund is a natural extension of our desire to help others. You hear about a colleague struggling with circumstances beyond their control, and you have this urge to help: the Hope Fund is really just giving form to that desire we all have to band together and support each other in those critical moments in each other’s lives.”
You make the Hope Fund possible and you have made it possible to provide more than $50 million in assistance since 2005. Each and every HCA Healthcare colleague who strives every day to care for their patients, to support their coworkers, and to improve human life by fulfilling the duties of their role contributes to our story of compassionate giving and caring for one another like family. Thank you for being part of Hope Fund history!
