Greg’s Weekly Update (May 3, 2019)

glad to be back

Happy Friday, Coliseum Northside Team!  It has been a while since I have sent an update like this, so we have some catching up to do.

National Nurse’s Week is next week, May 5-11.  Help us celebrate our great nursing team with several events during the week.  Monday, the Nursing Directors will deliver cookies to staff.  There will also be a “Blessing of the Hands” ceremony at each nurse’s station.  Tuesday will be Coke Floats Day for both day and night shifts.  Several other events are planned for the rest of the week, led by the nurse leaders to show their appreciation . . . stay tuned.

CNH Hospital Month

May is also Employee Appreciation Month, with several fun events including Chick-Fil-A breakfasts on May 16th and May 18th, our Service Awards Banquet on May 23rd, and Food Trucks on May 29th.  We appreciate everyone on our team and the compassionate care and teamwork that you show every day!

Safety and Security Update – I’m excited to announce that Coliseum Northside is moving forward with a project that will add a network of security cameras and doors with badge access.  Approximately 79 new cameras and 36 badge access panels will be installed in the coming months.  We know that safety concerns have increased over the last several years and this solution will be beneficial to all employees, physicians, patients and visitors on our campus.

I hope that you have seen the Facebook videos for our two most recent Employees of the month, Andrea Johnson and Josh Blume (click images above to see them receiving their recognition!).  Both Andrea and Josh are great examples of living our values every day.  Congrats to both of you!

IMG_0853You should be aware by now that Coliseum Health System has adopted a new set of shared values that we now share with all hospitals in the South Atlantic Division.  Ownership.  Compassion.  Excellence (refer to charts below). I am excited that what we value the most can be communicated in three powerful words.  Last week, the leaders of Coliseum Health System and Fairview Park Hospital came together in Macon for a Leadership Development Institute.  I want to commend Austin Guinn of Physical Therapy who joined me on stage to present how we live the value of Ownership at Coliseum Northside.  You would be proud to know that Austin spent most of his time talking about YOU and the ways that he sees the Northside team taking ownership in your daily interactions (click photo of him above to see what he had to say).  Great job, Austin!
