HCA Healthcare has been voted “Innovator of the Year” in the 2019 Red Hat Innovation Awards for our development of SPOT (Sepsis Prediction & Optimization of Therapy), an algorithm and clinical workflow that enables earlier detection of sepsis and is helping to save lives!
Since 2007, the Red Hat Innovation Awards have recognized organizations worldwide and across industries for transformative projects using Red Hat’s open source solutions. HCA Healthcare’s SPOT uses Red Hat OpenShift technology as a foundational platform to enable agile software development, rapidly incorporate end-user feedback and expedite implementations.
HCA Healthcare was selected by a panel of judges as an Innovation Award winner, which made us one of five finalists for the “Innovator of the Year” award. Voting was open to the public last week, and HCA Healthcare was announced the winner at the Red Hat Summit in Boston on Thursday, May 9.
If you haven’t seen it, you can watch a short video about the work we’re doing with SPOT to help save lives here.
Congratulations to our clinical, data science, IT and other colleagues, some of whom accepted the award at Red Hat Summit, for supporting SPOT and helping to save lives! We don’t just “change care everywhere” in the abstract…we change care outcomes for real patients!
Thanks to all of you for making your voices heard and supporting HCA Healthcare, and for your commitment to the care and improvement of human life.
